Actress who performed real life oral sex scene in steamy film has 'no regrets'
Actress Kerry Fox has insisted she has "no regrets" filming an unsimulated oral sex scene in a film.
She performed real oral sex on her co-star Mark Rylance in the erotic 2001 film Intimacy. The racy flick follows a bartender named Jay (Rylance) who enjoys intense bonking sessions with a woman called Claire (Fox) every week.
He doesn't even know Claire's name at first, but he starts to develop feelings for her. It turns out she's an actress by night and has a husband and a son, and despite the affair she refuses to leave her family.

Fox admitted the film has negatively impacted her career at times but insists she doesn't regret the role. In 2015, she told The Times: "My career went into a big dip immediately after Intimacy but that was partly because I got pregnant — so I was fired from my next role — and partly because of the age I was turning: 32."

Addressing the controversy surrounding the film, she went on: "In the age of internet porn today, it’s hard to believe the reaction to the film, but it only caused a fuss here. In Germany the response was really wonderful and mature."
She said the film's director, Patrice Chéreau, had mentioned how good it would be to shoot a "truthful film about sex". She branded Intimacy a "censorship landmark", adding: "You can’t control how it will affect your career, but if you don’t take risks you’re destined for a life of boring work."
Rylance said his role in Intimacy was the most difficult job he'd ever had. He told The Guardian: "I was convinced it was a vital story about the difficulties people face finding intimacy in a big city like London.

"Hanif Kureishi's writing couldn't have been more intimate and revealing, but I found the making of the film and the subsequent publicity and personal attacks very, very painful. I wish I hadn't made it." He said he'd been reluctant to partake in the oral sex scene but that the director had pushed him to do it.
Fox explained that what interested her about the flick was "how we get to trust people". Addressing her co-star's regret over the film, she said "that was the point of taking these risks" as you're not sure what the reaction will be.
